Can I wire an outdoor outlet by splicing into the wiring for my outdoor light? - outdoor sprinkler timer

I need a jack for connecting the countdown for my sprinkler system. There is a motion detector light outside, but not anwhere outside the home. Can I splice in the wiring inside the box that the light is mounted?
